Dear Parents of the Class of 2012,
Welcome to the 3rd quarter! We had a successful first half of the school year, but we know that there are many things that need to be done in order to make sure that our scholars’ finish the year the way that they began. For example, homework completion continues to be a challenge for many of our scholars. So, we are introducing a homework completion plan to provide additional support so that scholars may find success.
Step 1: All scholars have received duplicated agenda books in order to ensure that they are recording homework each night.
Step 2: If a scholar does not complete an assignment, they may complete that work in their homeroom that day and submit the assignment no later than the following morning, for partial credit. The scholars’ name is also recorded on grade-level incomplete assignment list.
Step 3: At the end of the week, if a scholar’s name has appeared on the incomplete assignment list three or more times, he or she will be expected to attend a homework detention to complete the work.
Step 4: In the event that a scholars’ name appears on the list again, there will be a mandatory scheduled meeting in which the parents and all involved teachers with the scholar will come to the table to decide upon the best course of action for the scholar.
There is no question that we expect a high standard of achievement from our scholars, and will do what we think is best to maintain them. Our incentive program has not changed, we still have our “Hot List” and merits will be given accordingly. We will also be looking to you to play a more involved role this semester and will be sending home information along those specific lines.
Thank you in advance for working with us to endure that we make our scholars the best that they can be!
Respectfully yours,
Nkemjika N. Ofodile Class of 2012 Grade Level Leader
