Class of 2013 Homework Hall
Purpose/ Background
The purpose of scholars’ hard work at Chavez is to prepare them for success in college and in life. In order to better prepare scholars for the demands and responsibilities in college, the 7th grade community will host a mandatory Homework Hall for all scholars that do not complete their homework. When scholars complete all of their homework assignments, their grades will positively reflect their effort.
Homework Hall Information
Homework Hall will be held daily on Tuesdays-Fridays from 4:10-5:00 pm in room 237 and 226. Scholars that do not submit a homework assignment during the day will be notified during the last period that they are expected to attend Homework Hall. Scholars will report to Homework Hall at 4:10, complete the missing homework assignment(s) and will be dismissed at 5:00 pm. Teachers will be present to assist and tutor the scholars. Scholars are responsible for notifying their parents/guardians if they are required to attend Homework Hall.
Homework Incentives
Scholars that complete every homework assignment for every class will receive a reward on a weekly basis. Scholars who complete every assignment for every class for one month will be rewarded with an after-school trip to a movie theatre.
Homework Consequences
Scholars that do not attend Homework Hall will receive a detention for the following day. If the scholar does not attend the detention, they will be suspended for two days.
Expectations for Homework Hall
Scholars that attend Homework Hall will work quietly on the assignments that were not submitted. When scholars finish the assignments that are overdue, they will work on homework due the following day. Folders which contain the assignments from each class will be present in each Homework Hall room for the scholars’ use. Scholars will stay in Homework Hall until they are dismissed at 5:00 pm.
Detention/ Homework Hall Conflicts
Scholars who are expected to attend Homework Hall and earn a detention on the same day, will serve the detention. When they attend detention, they will be excused from Homework Hall. If the scholar does not attend Homework Hall and does not attend detention, he or she will be suspended for two days.
