Dear Parents/Guardians of Sixth Grade Scholars,
We have recently begun the second half of our school year! During the third and fourth academic quarters, the sixth grade teachers will be challenging your children through more intensive academic rigor and social discussions. In order to monitor the progression of the sixth grade scholars and assess areas for improvement, the sixth grade teachers have implemented a new policy to monitor homework completion.
Homework is an essential tool to build upon the skills learned in the classroom and it is a crucial part of our scholars’ academic development. The sixth grade Homework Completion Plan will be implemented in all courses and monitored closely by all academic teachers.
Each sixth grade class will receive homework on a daily basis. During the following class meeting, the teacher will record information on scholars who did/did not complete the assignment(s). Scholars completing the assignment will receive stickers on the Homework Chart, and, at the end of the week, each class that completes at least 90% of the homework assignments will receive a link in the “Chain of Completion”. When the chain reaches from ceiling to floor, the class will be awarded a prize (determined by the teacher) and a new chain will begin.
The goal of our Homework Completion Plan is to show our scholars the importance of studying at home and to motivate our scholars to complete their assignments. We hope that your will help us in this endeavor. Thank you for your support and assistance!
