Happy New Year!
It is a brand new year and your child is one year closer to graduating high school and moving onto success in college and happiness in life.
Now that we are in 2008, it is important to look back on our past successes and prepare to re-commit ourselves to the challenges ahead. Our school’s opening in September was a highlight for all of us and we are proud of all of our students as they learned to transition into our program that requires them to participate in an 8 hour school day, wear a uniform, and do homework every night.
Please work with us to make sure that your child is on time every morning. We open our doors at 7:20 and class starts at 7:50. Chavez Prep students who miss more than 10 classes in any given course are automatically retained in their current grade level.
While in school, Chavez Prep students must adhere to our uniform policy at all times. In these cold winter months, we do allow our students to wear long sleeve, non-hooded shirts white or black shirts under their collared uniform shirts. Call Ms. Duran at 202.723.3975 if you would like to order a Chavez Prep sweatshirt or long sleeve shirt for your child.
Also, please remember to sign your child’s homework planner every night to indicate that he or she has read silently for 20 minutes.
Chavez Prep scholars who consistently complete their homework assignments are able to review and practice what was learned in class.
Many thanks once again for trusting our school with the education of your child. We could not be more proud to continue this very, very important work.
